Junior/Mini Day Camp 2023
First and foremost camp is about having fun, improving your riding and creating new friendships.
Junior camp has traditionally been intended for those aged 11 and under and Mini camp for those aged between 5 and 8, this being the minimum age for reasons of welfare and safety.
These camps have now been incorporated to run on the same week at Plumpton Racecourse. They will now run from Monday 31st July to Friday 4th August. Riders go home every night as do their ponies, however it may be possible for your pony to be stabled overnight @ £12.00 per night.
Junior campers must be riding independently and competently off the lead rein at all paces. A senior helper will be on hand to assist with each group of junior campers. Mini campers aged 5 and under will need their parent (or adult representative) to stay with them for the day to help with grooming, tacking up and leading etc.
Every horse is allocated a stable for the week within the secure yard when not being ridden . You will need to provide hay for your pony.
It is racecourse regulations that every horse must have a passport and up to date vaccination record to be allowed on to the yard, there can be no exceptions to this rule.
Rides/yards are organised according to age/ability with a qualified instructor per ride. You will need to have attended a minimum of 3 working rallies, with 2 of those in the current year, to allow you to be assessed for this.
Each morning you will prepare your pony for the activity allocated to your ride – flatwork, show jumping, cross country, stable management. After riding, you will have lunch in the centre racecourse bar. (Packed lunch + drink to be brought into camp each day). In the afternoon you may ride again, do mounted games, watch a demonstration or take part in unmounted team building events.
Once you have paid your deposit, to secure your place, you will receive forms to be completed asking for details of both you and your horse, medical information, photographic permission as well as a list of equipment that you will need to bring.
